Colleen has over 30 years experience working in the UK and in Zimbabwe. Her career spans secondary teaching, TV presenting and senior positions in communications and marketing in private and public sector organisations.In 2019 she was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.A personal and professional development consultant, she is co-founder and CEO of the Nationally recognised Amos Bursary. The charity exists to ensure talented young British men of African and Caribbean descent acquire the skills and mindset to move from potential to performance in higher education and the professions. She is also co-creator of the award-winning Progression Programme for Schools – Students learn new behavioural strategies for greater self-leadership; self-awareness, building resilience, self-confidence, self-esteem, valuing others, leading others.Passionate about improving individual performance, she has drawn on her years of experience to inspire young people, adults and organisations to recognise the value and benefit of inner belief, effective communications, team work and leadership as a driver for performance improvement. Professional qualifications include a degree in Social Science; PGCE in secondary education; ILM Diploma in executive coaching and mentoring; a qualified practitioner in psychometric personality tools, Lumina Learning and Facet Five; and Crucial Conversations.Colleen received the Community Award, for her contribution to community cohesion from the publication “The Powerlist” - which identifies Britain’s 100 most influential black people. She also received three awards from the Association for Business Psychology for her work in London schools and the Amos Bursary. She is committed to bringing balance to the deficit model of underperformance, unemployment and crime which currently surrounds African and Caribbean young men by promoting excellence and shaping their futures.
