That’s why we’ve formed the Kingston Climate Hub: to provide non-partisan information on climate change, to engage with our community to take control of climate change in our own backyards, and to monitor government and industry actions and outcomes.The Kingston Climate Hub is part of the Community Climate Hub network that advances the goals of the Climate Reality Project, led by former U.S. Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore.

My team and I were responsible for all aspects of communication for the City, which involved a new way of providing communications services: focusing on effectiveness and communication fundamentals. This entailed better planning, a move to digital communications including more effective use of social media, renegotiating advertising contracts and being the lead on aspects of open government. I was also the director for the customer service centre and the sponsor for development of a customer experience strategy.

With my team, I was responsible for all aspects of communication for EMS, public health, social services, housing, long-term care, the Human Services Planning Board and the Local Immigration Partnership. Our work included providing advice; planning, executing and evaluating communication strategies; managing special events; training; media relations and so on.

During my four months with OACETT, I built its social media presence, produced the newsmagazine and worked on the AGM.

Halifax, Canada Area

Major accomplishments- taught full range of courses in the PR Advanced Diploma program at Eastern College- created and implemented communications and PR plans for clients- freelance writer for two law magazines- created and delivered workshops on a variety of communications topics- provided communications support to the Canada Games, 2011- Organized special events and set media relations coverage records.

Major accomplishments:- created a seat for communications at the boardroom table- developed and implemented the first internal communications plan for the Public Service Commission, which improved employee satisfaction of communications from nine to 84% within 11 months- wrote speeches for the Premier, the Minister and Deputy Minister- represented the department on committees including wellness, the provincial brand, and employee communications.

Major accomplishments:- led communication on a major software development project for Export Development Canada (Crown Corp.)- implemented communication strategy for National Defence's re-engineering initiative including coordinating a special event for 5,000 employees- at Health Canada: created and implemented internal communication strategy for the Food Directorate; developed communication strategy and implementation plan for the Health Promotion and Protection Branch; and developed and executed strategy for the Office of the Chief Scientist.

Major accomplishments:- created the internal communications unit then grew it to include marketing, crisis and stakeholder communications- architect of the merger of all communications functions- developed the first national communications, marcomm and crisis communication plans - strategic lead for a number of organizational crises- improved employee satisfaction of communication from 15 to 79% within the first year and to 87% in the second year- official speechwriter for the Commissioner- managing editor of Pony Express, the Force's 40-page, monthly newsmagazine

Major accomplishments:- led promotion for the first major use of the Internet -- online training-needs assessments for physicians- senior communications consultant for ISPR, Government's re-engineering of Canada's pension systems. Garnered a 95% employee approval rating for communication efforts. Developed and facilitated communication training for managers that was rated as the top training course.
