I’m Colleen, the Founder and CEO of CannaStory Talent, where we’ve developed a simple, affordable tool to solve the gigantic turnover problem in the cannabis industry.Our tool targets the people you want to hire and gives them an experience much more like your customers' in-store shopping experience.My journey in the cannabis space began with spending three years at Jane Technologies, an industry e-commerce leader. There, I partnered with dispensaries to enhance their tech stack and operational efficiency, gaining insights into the unique needs of retailers. Before diving into cannabis, I spent a decade in talent and recruiting, primarily focused on startups. I led hiring and people operations for a venture capital firm, overseeing talent needs for a portfolio of over 40 high-growth startups. I also built and ran a talent matchmaking software company, connecting tech companies and talent in startup ecosystems around the country.In 2014, I created and launched Coder Girl, an all-women's coding meetup and job placement program that is now active in 13 cities across the country.My passion for cannabis as medicine runs deep; I conducted my senior thesis at UNCC on the Legalization of Medicinal Marijuana in 2007 — a time when the plant was still widely viewed as taboo. As an Anthropology major, and through a cultural lens, I’m fascinated by how the plant has evolved alongside humans throughout history. This is an industry that touches so many fields including culture, medicine, legal, agriculture, business, politics, culinary arts - which makes it an incredibly exciting space to be in.As a former talent specialist and digital retail consultant for dispensaries, I've combined my experiences to bridge a gap in this industry.
