Detecting markers for osteoarthritis is the goal of our study. After an artificial bone chip is placed in our horses, we run them on a treadmill daily to research ways to detect early signs of OA. I wrap and pick hooves daily while assessing lameness in our horses.

Research in prevention of catastrophic fetlock fractures in racehorses is a field where intervention is necessary. We created an in silico model that can simulate the costs of exercising foals to prevent fractures. I presented my research at the Veterinary Student Scholars Research Symposium in Puerto Rico.
