It is important to me to always aim high, find solutions, maintain a high level of professionalism, and most importantly, display a positive attitude. I've been a part of the 122nd Air National Guard in Fort Wayne, IN since 2013. My primary AFSC (Job I went to training for) is an Emergency Actions Controller. In this role, I have developed useful knowledge about the many ways the Unify Communications System can be used to expedite job duties. As a Command Post (CP) controller, it is important to process information and work through situations in a quick and effective manner. Problem solving and flexibility are possibly the most important skills to exhibit because the information being relayed to me is usually a matter of life and death with calls containing information about an aircraft in-flight emergency, a fire, chemical spills, weather related incidents, medical emergencies, or active shooter reports. It is vital to quickly relay the previously mentioned messages in order to save lives and mitigate damages. In addition to my duties as a CP controller, I have been selected to participate as a Budget Analyst with our Comptroller team. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Budget Analyst role because I am passionate about business. It's great to have been afforded the opportunity to gain work experience that pertains to company finances. It is important to understand how the payment and funding process works as a Budget Analyst since I had to communicate with the Defense Finance and Accounting Services to ensure that the base programs were given the appropriate amount of finances to sustain operations. Organization is key to success in this job because tracking invoice payments as well as contract status for the groups on base is a daily task.
