During my university education I was recognized by several highest marks awards and honour roll status. I leveraged my top marks into securing an end-of-degree preceptorship with the Cardiovascular ICU at Toronto General Hospital, one of only two students chosen in the GTA to train on the unit. After graduation, I was hired by the Nursing Resource Team at TGH, where I spent my first year jumping between over 20 varied types of wards. The challenge of learning all areas in nursing to a greater extent was one that taught me a tremendous amount. To further develop my nursing abilities, I joined the ICU NRT team at TGH, which covered 4 ICUs, including CVICU, NeuroICU, MS/transplantICU, and Coronary ICU.After two years of working on all these units, COVID happened and I was transitioned into a full-time COVID ICU RN, caring for critically ill patients on the verge of starting ECLS. As the most senior nurse not trained in ECLS, due to my NRT status, this role presented me with the most critically ill patients in all of Canada daily for many months. After two years of fighting COVID, I left my former position to seek new opportunities in Saskachewean. This led to a year-long position at the Royal University’s ICU, where I was further exposed to trauma ICU patients along with medsurg/neuro population. After this experience, I worked at Prince Albert, SK and Kenora, ON in shorter travel contracts. Once again the opportunity of working in a smaller rural hospital exposed me to a greater degree of independence and responsibilities as I lead the code team and critical care resource hospital wide. At this time I am seeking new opportunities in Saskatoon that will benefit from my breadth and depth of knowledge.
