At Ogden Glazer + Schaefer, my practice focuses on startups\securities, mergers & acquisitions, craft beverage licensing, trademarks, and real estate. I've had the opportunity to assist clients secure needed venture funds, negotiate complex purchase transactions to grow their business (or ride off into the sunset), ensure compliance with nuanced (and ever-changing) alcohol rules and regulations, protect their valuable intellectual property from infringement, and buy, sell, or conserve their land. Whether I'm making sure the legal side of things is squared away or brainstorming with fellow professionals, my goal is always to make complex information easier to understand and actionable.....and maybe enjoy a craft beer or two while doing it.

At Madworks, I managed a 10-week accelerator program focused on helping early-stage companies strengthen their governance, financial planning, and legal frameworks. Working closely with startup founders, I guided them through sessions focused on key areas like board management and risk mitigation, ensuring they were well-positioned for growth and success. Supported by a grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), the program was able to provide each participant with up to $5,000 in non-dilutive funding. Additionally, mentors were provided from throughout the startup community to advise and guide each company on the issues specific to their organization. The goal was to connect entrepreneurs with the right resources and mentorship, helping them build a solid foundation for long-term success.

I mentored and supervised law students in the Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic, where they provided pro bono legal services to entrepreneurs and startups under the Wisconsin Student Practice Rule. I guided the students through real-world legal challenges, helping them apply their academic knowledge to practical situations while supporting their growth as future legal professionals. As part of the program, I also collaborated with faculty and attorneys in private practice to continuously improve the clinic’s curriculum, ensuring that students gained both hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the legal needs of early-stage businesses.

My practice centered around probate, contract and lease drafting, launching and advising new companies, and intellectual property (trademarks, copyrights, and licensing). I also supported other attorneys at Madden Law Group with litigation preparation and interpreting for Spanish speaking clients. Additionally, I maintained the Firm's website and social media pages.

Responsible for advising more than 15 new startup companies on a wide range of legal and business issues. I concentrated mostly on advising small single owner companies, new high tech companies, and community supported agriculture groups. Responsible for full sales cycle management of new Utility and Telecommunications customers. Dealt directly with director and C-level decision makers and demonstrated the power of Infogix software in automating resource intensive balancing and reconciliation activities.

Was responsible for lead generation and account management of clients in the Peoria area. Dealt with small to medium sized businesses, as well as some larger corporate customers. Was responsible for contract negotiation (price and length of advertising term) and was also expected to provide basic graphical design advice for some customers.

Led a team that created an international marketing report for the executives at Serola. The project began by meeting with the leaders to better understand their products and the direction they wanted to take in their international expansion. From there the team embarked on selecting appropriate countries based on different indicators and market conditions. After presenting our initial findings to Serola they selected 3 counties they wished to penetrate. The second half of the project required us to provide a granular but easy to understand outline of the country, its buying habits, cultural considerations, laws, import regulations, intellectual property rights\enforcement, proper shipping methods, available producers, distributors etc.

10 week Management Trainee internship. Learned the fundamentals of Hertz daily operations. Completed the Manager 1 training guide\checklist and took a test at the end of the 10 week period to stay on track to become a first level manager.
