Currently working as an Ophthalmic Technician at the Beetham Eye Institute at Joslin Diabetes Center. My current focus at Joslin is to provide exceptional care to my patients, most of whom are diabetic. I have over 22 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant and Certified Ophthalmic Assistant including glaucoma, cornea, cataract and refractive, and diabetes specialties.My previous position with Northern Arizona Eye Specialists as a cataract and intraocular lens specialist allowed me to utilize my developed sales skills and experience, which translated into a significant increase in revenue for the practice. As a premium lens counselor to patients undergoing cataract surgery, I increased premium IOL sale revenue at The Eye and Laser Center/Northern Arizona Eye Specialists from calendar year 2019 to 2021 by 84%, and by 60% in 2022 from the 2021 calendar year. 2023 was also a to be a robust year with a revenue increase of at least 40% from the previous year from premium IOL conversions.I also have nearly a decade of direct experience with training, co-training, and orienting at least eight technicians, most of whom came to the practice with little to no experience in Ophthalmology. This included teaching proficiency with overall clinical skills up to and including refractometry and applanation. Training and co-training technicians also included teaching proficiency using diagnostic equipment such as OCT, fundus photography, and optical biometry.My training experience has also encompassed orienting and co-orienting several Director of Nursing staff over the last several years into their role within the practice.I have extensive knowledge in operating a wide array of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, most currently the ARGOS optical biometer, ZEISS CLARUS 500 fundus camera, and Tracey Technologies iTrace system. I am also a RxSIGHT LDD certified technician. Outside of my Ophthalmology experience, I also have experience in administrative support including strong writing skills and excellent verbal communication, data collection and reporting, and project research and development.
