The SLC Economics Program provides tutorial support for all Cal students taking Economics courses, and serves as a platform for students to learn from one another and succeed together. As a peer tutor at the Student Learning Center, I'm committed to promoting an environment of active learning and course-relevant development for fellow economics students. I facilitate student engagement with Econ 1 (Principles of Economics) course material through individual and group drop-in tutoring sessions, and I work closely with higher-ups in the program to identify common student issues to better develop tutoring material. I've also facilitated a number of midterm and final exam review sessions, for which I have received highly positive experience feedback from student attendees. Within the program, I've helped to develop new curriculum, which has improved the course-related learning experiences of the hundreds of students who are enrolled in the Econ 1 course each semester. My goal is ultimately to create an engaging learning environment where students from all backgrounds can feel welcomed and prepared to face the rigor of economics coursework at UC Berkeley.

The economics department at the University of California, Irvine offers both undergraduates and graduates the opportunity to study and research a broad scope of fields in economics. The industry-leading research produced by the UCI faculty spans a wide range of both theoretical and practical applications. During my time as an undergraduate summer research assistant for UCI professor of economics, John Duffy, I assisted in the research on consumer responses to significant changes in the prices of indefinitely lived assets for a working paper. Using experimental data of consumer trade prices and responses over the course of 5 treatments, I developed charts in Microsoft Excel to visualize the findings and provide Professor Duffy with valuable information regarding the rationality behind consumer behavior in this market. The second prong of my research experience with Professor Duffy at UC Irvine involved proofreading, editing, and providing feedback on an ongoing manuscript meant to educate academics in the pedagogy of teaching experimental economics. I employed Overleaf, Online LaTeX Editor to streamline the editing process and make edits directly to the book that the professor was able to monitor in real time. I received accolades from Professor Duffy for the efficiency and quality of my work, and I will be receiving a research assistant credit in the paper as well as a special thanks in the manuscript for editing assistance. More important are the valuable, wide-ranging research skills and knowledge I gained and developed throughout the entire experience.
