As a science affiliate at the FMNH, I contribute directly to ornithological research as part of the Hackett-Bates Lab in affiliation with the University of Chicago Committee on Evolutionary Biology.Under graduate student mentorship, I lead a project that employs a phylogenetic approach to assessing the role of range linearity on population structure and biogeographic variation in Andean passerines.

I work as a freelance photographer specializing in high-quality portraiture in addition to other creative ventures. My range of clients includes high school seniors, college students/graduates, married or engaged couples, professionals seeking headshots, student groups, and event coordinators.Through this venture I operate my own website, fund my own equipment, and independently coordinate sessions and events. As an extension of my personal work, I also publish and sell creative pieces as fine art prints.

Awarded an undergraduate research grant to pursue a self-written project analyzing environmental impacts on bird collision rates in the the Evanston and Chicago area, a major migratory hotspot. I utilized historical collision data, building footprints, and precise land cover data to generate maps depicting hotspots. This involved mentorship and collaboration with faculty experts in remote sensing, mapping, and urban ecology. Continued work focused on finding potential correlations between these hotspots and surrounding land cover and additional in-depth analysis of collision trends to advocate for bird-safe infrastructure. I presented my findings in a poster at Northwestern’s Undergraduate Research Expo.

As a summer intern at the Chicago Botanic Garden, I collaborated with researchers on multiple projects surrounding ecology, plant communities, and biodiversity. My day to day tasks included fieldwork, using software to track and map rare species ranges, and analyzing collected species samples in a lab setting. I also attended professional development seminars held for interns that provided helpful information on skills and careers relevant to ecological research, all taught by specialized faculty at the Garden.My involvement with relevant projects continued beyond the summer as I worked with faculty when available to contribute to manuscripts and project development. With collaborative support from faculty, I created outlines for independent projects and other opportunities to build on this experience.

At Labels by Pulizzi, I worked nearly full-time to manage equipment specialized for sorting printed labels. This involved quality control for labels before shipping to businesses, troubleshooting machine issues, and coordinating with others on the production floor.
