Mpala is located on the Laikipia plateau in north central Kenya, just north of the Equator, northwest of Mt. Kenya. It covers 48,000 acres of savannah and dry woodland habitats and is bordered by Ewaso Ngiro and the Ewaso Narok rivers. The land hosts Mpala Ranch and Mpala Research Centre. While working with a professional HR team, the HRO role is responsible for overseeing the efficient delivery of the broad HR functions listed below to the over 300 staff on the Research Centre:* Participate in the recruitment and selection process, drafting of notices and advertisements for vacant positions, organize interviews, inform successful applicants, induction and taking of minutes;* Schedule periodic review and update of Human Resources policies, planning and management processes and procedures in line with changes in the regulatory and labour environment.* maintenance of personnel records, staff attendance leave and off management, processing of staff benefits and management of the retirement benefits/pension scheme.* Ensure maintenance of good employee and industrial relations through well-managed staff welfare schemes, a healthy and safe working environment.* Facilitate the performance and reward management process to ensure that it is effective and linked to the staff development programmes* Timely and accurate processing of Casual and Short-term staff salaries and wages through computing and recording payroll data as scheduled, maintaining payroll records in compliance with legal requirements and Mpala policies and procedures.
