I have been a Wilmette Police Commander for 17 years, 6 years as a Patrol Commander and 11 years as the Special Operations Commander. My current position,Special Operations Commander, has become a position with many roles. After the reallocation of personnel, I took on and successfully fulfilled upper management duties, administrative and records tasks; community relations tasks, operational tasks, traffic tasks and investigative tasks. I am responsible for planning, coordinating and executing various community events, such as the July 3rd Independence Celebration, North Shore Triathlon, 5k runs, and parade. I publish event notices to Wilmette Officers.I handle various community relations task such as crime prevention and informative presentations; manage alcohol and tobacco compliance programs; managing the sex offender registration program; assisting the School Resource Officer with crisis planning presentations and school crisis planning meetings; author and send media releases and crime alerts as needed and be a resource on a variety of community topics.I coordinate with the Investigative Sergeant the responsibility of leading, supervising and managing the Investigative Section. I prepare operational plans, budget requests, reports and memorandums concerning the Investigative Section. I conduct Department internal investigations. I establish an asset forfeiture procedure to ensure compliance with the law and continue to oversee the Wilmette Police Forfeiture Program. I am also the Training Manager for the Wilmette Police Department. I schedule formal and informal training for the Wilmette Police Department. I am a member of the NIPSTA L. E. Training Committee and NIPSTA Safety Committee. I am the Defensive Tactics Coordinator with Defensive Tactics Sergeant and Range Sergeant under me. We would plan, organize, coordinate and implement various activities and training to ensure Wilmette Police readiness.

Successfully supervised from 15 to 120 Marines on various assignments including the Thailand Incremental Training Program, a $200k road renovation project for the United States Border Patrol, 3 company and battalion field exercises and 18 engineer projects. Successfully passed a Field Analysis Supply Maintenance Operation (FASMO) inspection and a Commanding General Inspection. Submitted various status reports and other required reports to the operations officer. Review and edit reports and paperwork submitted by my sections and Marines. Received a reserve promotion to Captain in 1992.
