I am an energetic, passionate and committed professional in the field of Education.I am deeply interested in actively improving the teaching and learning experience for young people in Ireland. Our education system needs to better equip our youth for the world of tomorrow. The development of their skills, attitudes, conceptual understanding, perseverance and abilities to innovate and create deserve centrality. Our curriculum's over-reliance on short-term content rote cramming and regurgitation warrants serious revision. Ideologically, education would focus on tailored contextualised differentiated learning experiences allowing each individual student opportunities to engage with appropriate levels of thinking; maximising their potential. Education should not be eternally fixated by summative assessment, the process is where most students will truly attain. As Jack Frymier said "it should be about where the rubber hits the road".The importance of the professionalisation of teaching which involves supporting autonomous practitioners to interpret and translate curriculum, with the best interests of the student's local context in mind, cannot be overestimated.

My strategy for facilitating PME students to develop professionally is one which focuses on creativity. Students are given time to digest the relevant syllabi and to interpret them with their own personality, teaching style and local teaching context acting as dynamic filters. They then respond to briefs, set in a range of different imagined settings where they are expected to script, resource, and select appropriate methodologies to best achieve learning outcomes.
