I was originally hired by Creo (taken over by Kodak in 2005) to help support electro-mechanical work being done in product development. Towards the end of the development project that I was working on I took on a role of Systems Integrator and helped transfer knowledge over to production. Some of my work activities were assembly, integration and documentation of new products. Fabrication and rework of parts, general troubleshooting, design and fabrication of jigs, making cables and electrical jigs. Set up testing and monitoring equipment, record test results and prepare reports. High precision measurement and alignment to within sub microns in some cases. Integrating devices, which involved setting up software and firmware parameters, media profiles, geometric correction, and troubleshooting imaging artifacts. Redlining BOM's and assembly drawings.

I served a marine engineering apprenticeship from 1996 to 2000 and this is one of the companies I worked for during that time. I also did some relief work for this company after I had finished my apprenticeship and came back from Japan in 2002. I was serving on rail ships in their marine division.My main responsibilities as an apprentice were the maintenance and monitoring of main engines, auxiliary engines, deck machinery, steering gear, electrical systems, centrifuges, oily water separators, water makers, sewage systems, air compressors, rebuilding pumps/valves and occasional work on other equipment such as front-end loaders and cranes used to offload cargo. This was a temporary contract job I took for the summer before going back to school in September to study mechanical engineering.The contract was between Southern rail and CN rail and required upgrades to be made to 100+ CN locomotives. Responsibilities were to cut off old components with a cutting torch and arc weld in new components, all positions. Strip down, clean, and re-assemble engine components.
