Maximising the potential of Argos Financial Services propositions is the core remit of my role, be it acquiring more Argos Card customers, getting existing customers to spend on their Card, or selling our Insurance propositions. Understanding our customers is where this starts, and I utilise customer as well as trading data to further this mission while building relationships with the Sainsbury's Argos Trading, Marketing and Digital teams to align and deliver on a combined strategy. I have responsibility for developing business cases for initiatives, modelling the financial benefits, as well as creating and setting targets/budgets for core KPIs and taking responsibility for delivering on them.Enhancing our propositions, and developing new ones, is key to our success and I manage projects and cross-functional stakeholder groups to deliver these whilst adhering to the Regulatory, Governance and Compliance frameworks we operate within.

A part of the in-house strategy team, my role was to undertake strategic projects for the commercial business to a wide variety of requirements. Networking plays a key part in my role, with cross-functional workstreams needing to be managed and results presented all the way up to Commercial Director level. I own relationships with external agencies and data providers. Manage on my own initiative, managing stakeholder expectations and timelines in line with business needs which would often lead to periods of sustained high pressure to achieve business goals.

A newly created position within the IT Department, my role was to build a business intelligence report suite where there was nothing before. Effectively setting up the company's business intelligence, I liaised with Directors and Management to create a suite of reports for external clients and internal stakeholders, monitoring key business metrics.

My last promotion in 2012 altered my role to a more senior position, taking on responsibility for the claims operational reporting for the business. During this time the majority of my work is ad hoc reporting and analysis, for the benefit of all management levels throughout the business, although my largest exposure is to our executive management team and directors. In this period I had to quickly learn how to report on a new system used for our claims operations, called IBM iSeries, and I am now a specialist with iSeries query. During this time I have also had to utilise Microsoft Access and Visual Basic, as well as SQL query. The work has varied from simple requests for handler information, to indepth analysis that can take weeks to produce using various statistical modelling.

After my first promotion in 2011 my job role shifted to largely focus on claims operational reporting and analysis. During this period my exposure to senior management increased on a day to day basis, as I became more involved in operational reporting. Large pieces of as hoc analysis would take up a large majority of my time, not only at the request of management, but also working on my own initiative to find and carry out work beneficial to the bureau.

When I first started I was brought in as a fresh graduate, with responsibility for scheduled reporting and minor analysis work. I quickly developed to an advanced user in excel, the skills being a necessity on a day to day basis. As I developed my job role expanded to include report and dashboard development, liaising with senior management to create new summaries and dashboards to assist in daily, weekly and monthly operational management. During this period my role largely involved work on the Motor Insurance Database, as well as work with UK police forces, DVLA and DFT reporting on Uninsured driving levels in the UK.
