Let me first start with few personal details about myself.Most importantly: I'm a dad. My son was born at the beginning of 2014 and I love being a parent. But I also love spending time with my closest friends. I've had the same group friends since I was about 18, a mixture of friends that I'd kept since secondary school and some more that got added when I went to sixth form. Don't get me wrong, I've made other friends along the way, but none are as persistent as this bunch, but I wouldn't change them for the world. As you can probably tell from my education background, I'm into construction. At secondary school, I got into architecture and took my options to suit. I did the same thing at sixth form too. However, after the first year, I realised sixth form wasn't really for me and I furthered my studies at college instead. After college I applied to do architecture at university. I attended an interview and it completely changed my mind. Maybe it was the uni or maybe it was the people I thought I'd be learning with, all I knew was that I got such a bad vibe from the place, I knew wouldn't be studying there. At this point I decided to take a step back. Maybe architecture wasn't for me. I needed more time to find myself, so I did a bit of research and found a course called the HND in Construction. And that there was probably the best thing I've done.After I completed the HND, I managed to find a job at Waller Associates Ltd as a trainee surveyor. I count myself among the lucky few students to do such a thing straight out of university. I actually had my first day at Waller's the day after my last exam!After 5 years in the construction industry, I saw an opportunity for a new job I’d have been daft not to apply for. My job now is still construction related, but centred around the pupils and staff that use the Trust’s facilities. The main thing is though, I think, is that I love my job and the people I work with.
