Managed application development and support for corporate systems including banking interfaces, accounting interfaces, actuarial reserve setting, help-desk, and corporate intranet.• Originally hired to manage legacy systems that needed to be retired or replaced. Successfully unplugged the IBM mainframe in 2009, rewriting required systems in UNIX using Oracle databases.• Designed and managed the development of an application that calculates and reports $3.2 billion in reserves each month using internally developed SQL on Oracle running on UNIX, sending appropriate debits and credits to the SAP general ledger. Windows Server based 3rd party software does the initial calculations to feed the UNIX part of the system. This was a time-driven application developed in an agile way within a traditional framework.• Managed the development of the corporate banking interfaces for issued and cashed checks, processing over $60 million in checks every night.

Designed workshops and taught classes in corporations around the country, as a part of the project management curriculum offered by Systemation, leading to a certificate in project management from the University of Colorado, Denver. Classes included Creating High Performance Project Teams and Thriving on Conflict.

Managed internet and client/server systems, including credit card authorizations.• Reduced fraud and improved customer service by re-writing the credit authorization system using a table-driven rule engine with real-time, high-performance capabilities. Server: IBM mainframe DB2 and COBOL stored procedures. Client: Microsoft Visual Basic on personal computers.

• Developed a direct marketing list fulfillment system that increased revenues at a 22% annual growth over a five-year period, resulting in $15 million dollars in increased profits per year. This was the company’s first large-scale client/server system and was successfully delivered within six months of the original proposal. Server: Sybase database on HP UNIX in Denver. Client: Progress 4GL on Windows computers in Chicago.• Created the company’s first large-scale Internet Web application in 1996, which brought in over a million subscriptions from around the world over a three-year period, saving approximately $20 in direct cost for every subscription that came in through the Internet. Database server: Progress on HP UNIX. Web server: Netscape on HP UNIX.

Head of the personal auto division. Responsible for bottom line profit on $100 million in business. Over a hundred employees in this division with four branch offices in the western United States.
