My role at Statlu is to provide environmental consulting services for a range of stakeholders including landowners, resource developers, and government agencies across BC with regards to landslide investigation and risk analysis, sedimentation vulnerability, fan destabilization, and hydrological sensitivities. My general responsibilities include:• Communicating and coordinating project schedules, deliverables, and budgets with clients, regulators, and sub-contractors. • Conducting field studies through reconnaissance of the surrounding terrain for the purposes of identifying the risks for natural hazards and to provide advice and recommendations on mitigation of potential damage and environmental impact. • Analyzing and interpreting aerial photographs and satellite imagery.• Completing technical reports for use in regional development, site selection, or development of public works projects as well as advising construction firms or government agencies on road construction, land use, and resource management.

My overall duty was to assist intermediate and senior mine geologists with refining and updating Suncor's 3D geological model that mapped the bitumen ore body for Suncor’s two active mines in Fort McMurray. Core sample data was taken and analyzed as a part of Suncor’s annual drilling and laboratory program put in place to refine the geological model. While employed at Suncor, I worked at the two active mining sites in Fort McMurray and at the head office in Calgary. My main responsibilities revolved around the annual laboratory program and included:• Supervising the core loggers.• Organizing weekly progress meetings with core loggers and lab project managers.• Revising the outdated laboratory program and implemented new procedures and documentation.• Compiling analytical data received from the contracted laboratory and implemented updated statistical analysis to improve the base mine quality assurance and control program.• Working with the model geologist inputting analytical data to test the current model build.• Using Mincom mapping/3D modelling software to update drilling information.Some of my other duties included:• Preparing and proofreading ‘Scopes of Work’ for additional smaller drilling projects.• Correlating target and waste units using geophysical logs.• Assisting the production geologists inspecting mining faces and laying out digging limits.

My work was primarily focused around the ongoing program to monitor contamination within the trans-boundary Abbotsford-Sumas Aquifer. My responsibilities included:• Completing regular field visits to sample and analyze groundwater to monitor the extent of contamination within the aquifer.• Used VBA to create custom macros within an interactive Microsoft Excel Workbook file to easily compile groundwater data from past and present years, calculate seasonal trends, generate graphs, and populate maps showcasing groundwater contamination with respect to location. This excel workbook was used to aid Environment and Climate Change Canada in the production of annual reports.• Performing quality assurance and control on the groundwater sample data using statistical analysis.• Fostering cooperative inter-agency work on behalf of Environment and Climate Change Canada.

My overall duty was to assist the intermediate and senior field geologists with respect to mapping and identifying high value coal seems for the expansion of the operational mine and the exploration of future mining locations. My responsibilities included:• Mapping geological outcrops to identify spatial trends in high value coal seams.• Planning drill hole locations based off our geological field measurements to aid in identifying high resource areas.• Laying out trails for temporary roads for access to drill sites and supervising road and drill pad construction. • Supervising the drilling team and geophysical logger. • Identifying different geological units at different depths during drilling• Correlating target coal seems using geophysical logs.
