My interest in my career field stems from some of the things I enjoyed when I was growing up. I enjoyed math in school, and I loved counting money. In high school I was introduced to my first Accounting class and I absolutely loved it. It came naturally to me and it was the first time that I had an idea of what I wanted to do for a living.Growing up, I watched my parents work hard, and I spent a lot of time at my grandparents house. My grandparents would have me work hard when I visited them, and we would often work hours moving logs and performing other jobs around their property. They were hard workers, so they expected the same of me when I was working with them. I would have to say working with them over the years impacted my work ethic and made me the hard worker that I am today.In college, I have had to work in numerous group projects, and I feel they have allowed me to gain the skills to work effectively as a team member. An award I am very proud of is for receiving the best group project award for a semester long project involving my Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain Management classes the first semester of my junior year in college. We were put into groups of five or six and had to create a growth strategy for a fortune 500 company, analyzing whether the company would be able to implement said strategy based off their Bloomberg financials, how they would market the strategy, and analyze the companies critical success factors and what must the company do extremely well. It turned about to be about a 73 page paper by the end, and then we had to present to the professors and students in front of the class. I think this project, out of anything I have done in college, was the most beneficial thing which has allowed me to work with a team for an extended period time and for us to all come together and create a final project to be proud of.
