  • Commagere Ventures
    Founder & Ceo
    Commagere Ventures Jun 2007 - Jul 2011
I created the first social games on Facebook. Leveraging my extensive viral marketing experience from previous companies, (Plaxo, CareBadges, Causes), I created a set of game mechanics based on viral marketing principles and as a one-man team acquired 50MM+ users within a few months.I created the vast majority of user acquisition techniques used in every social and mobile game you see today. I was able to aggressively further my knowledge of user behavior and viral marketing by conceiving, implementing, and iterating on a huge number of growth techniques/engagement features. I typically pushed two releases a day, which allowed me to learn and adapt at a much more rapid pace than anyone else in the space.I sold these games to Ohai in March 2008.
  • Ohai, Inc.

Along with Scott Hartsman, (the current CEO of Trion), co-founded the company, and played an active role in raising our Series A of over $6MM from August Capital and Rustic Canyon Ventures. We built the first-of-its-kind synchronous, isometric in-brower MMO on Facebook and continued to operate the games I had previously built. In my time there, I quadrupled the revenue from the existing games, integrated the synchronous systems across all 11 of our games (some of which were on as many as four social networks), and built an extremely talented team of 20 people.

  • Causes
    Engineer
    Causes Mar 2007 - Jun 2007
    San Francisco, Ca, Us
Along with Sean Parker I built Causes into the world’s largest platform for social activism. We were one of the launch applications for Facebook's platform, and quickly grew to over 120 million users. The goal of Causes was to empower anyone to change the world by taking the tried and true techniques of community organizing and bring them online.Following the acquisition of CareBadges, I was in charge of the application strategy for Causes. I wrote and designed the first version of Causes on Facebook and was a key member of the small and very talented team that scaled it to its enormous size. Based on the rapid success of Causes on Facebook, the rest of the team was quickly organized around the application.
  • Carebadges
    Founder
    Carebadges Nov 2006 - Mar 2007
I cofounded CareBadges with Saar Gur (currently a General Partner at Charles River Ventures).CareBadges was a widget inspired by the LiveStrong bracelets that allowed users to fundraise for nonprofits and place a widget reflecting that on their MySpace profile. I created everything from the widget itself, to the backend handling, and flows that allowed users to automatically add the widget to their profiles. Shortly after launch, CareBadges exploded in growth, attracting the attention of Sean Parker, (a friend from when we worked together at Plaxo), and ultimately led to our sale to Causes. We sold CareBadges to Causes in March 2007.
  • Buildforge, Inc.
    Founding Engineer
    Buildforge, Inc. Jun 2002 - Mar 2007
    Us
BuildForge was a software company focused on automating and simplifying the build process for software. Our clients included the majority of the Fortune 500, including the customer that ultimately acquired us (IBM).As a member of the founding team, I was initially focused on writing a large portion of the server code, the system APIs, the plugin for visual studio, and various smaller projects. I later became increasingly focused on sales as my extensive knowledge of the inner-workings of the systems coupled with my ability to speak to the vision of the company uniquely positioned me to sell across an entire customer's organization. Members of the sales team nicknamed me "The Fixer" and I was routinely in charge of closing difficult or stalled deals as a result of my ability to balance my engineering and sales skills. We sold BuildForge to IBM in 2006.

  • Plaxo, Inc.
    Senior Software Engineer
    Plaxo, Inc. Aug 2003 - May 2005
    Sunnyvale, Ca, Us
Plaxo created the world's largest connected and self-updating address book service with >50MM users and 3.5B contacts. It was backed by Sequoia Capital – Michael Moritz, Ram Shriram, and Tim Koogle were early investors. Plaxo was notable for pioneering a large number of viral marketing strategies, many of which are still used by social networking companies today. As one of the earliest members of the engineering team, I played a key role in creating the systems on the client side of our solutions. I also worked on the enormously successful and aggressive growth techniques and strategies that made Plaxo the most viral product of its time. In addition, I created the first revenue generating feature for Plaxo via a search deal that Tod Sacerdoti (now the CEO of BrightRoll) negotiated with Yahoo. We sold Plaxo to Comcast in 2008 for ~$170MM.
  • Infraworks
    Senior Software Engineer
    Infraworks Feb 2000 - Mar 2002
    Us
Infraworks was a company that provided enterprise level Digital Rights Management solutions for sharing digital content with anyone while ensuring that its protection and original ownership remained intact. Most notably, I developed the server and client side of the DRM solution that securely delivered protected files, enforced time based expiration of remote files, and allowed users to securely exercise ownership over remote files (erasing, altering permissions, etc).I routinely employed tools like windbg and softice to analyze, crack and/or debug our system as well as similar systems. Ultimately, I developed a very deep understanding of operating systems and was one of the only people capable of cracking our system in a production environment. I was able to uncover over 30 exploits of our DRM solution without leveraging any of our source and created a superior security paradigm that was immune to those exploits (as well as similar classes of exploits).
