In this role, I was responsible for:- Coaching and delivering our 16 week professional full-stack software development course along with many bespoke short courses to over 100 immensely courageous and talented students.- Delivering engaging lessons while being able to find intuitive ways to explain complex concepts.- Guiding design of project briefs and evaluation of projects in terms of technical response and presentation.- Mentoring and coaching students to extend professional awareness and practice in full software development skills- Contributing to new module content and evolving course structure and delivery model- Supporting cohort leads in scheduling cohorts and coordinating instructor contributions, balancing effort across the team- Guiding the development of the curriculum to ensure relevancy in line with professional knowledge, employer feedback, student/alumni feedback industry trends and business objectives.The thrill and challenge of teaching this intensive boot camp allowed me to use my technical expertise in HTML, CSS, Python, Flask, Django, JavaScript, React.JS, Next.js, TDD, Jest/Cypress Testing, SQL/Express/MongoDB, Java, and Spring coupled with the soft skills I brought from the previous career that allowed me to help lead, inspire and compassionately coach our students up to and after graduation. As well as teaching and supporting students during and after their studies I helped write new course materials, worked on personal projects learned new technologies all while still learning every day how to positively engage and continuously inspire students by asking for feedback from the world-class instructors I worked beside. The delivery teams I worked with were fantastic but it was the students who made this such an enjoyable job and my overwhelming feedback was that I made a positive difference in every team I worked with. My passion for tech lead me to work with our technical team to improve our Drive Thru technology, point of sale and inventory management systems to improve our operations, leveraging our technology and vastly speeding up our overall Drive Thru times. I started with Starbucks to financially support my degree before quickly being promoted from Barista to Store Manager and Drive Thru Specialist. During my 12 years career, I got to work with a handful of extremely talented leaders who taught me many valuable lessons in leadership, coaching and building highly effective teams. What I enjoyed most about my role with Starbucks was working with really hardworking and engaged teams and being able to support and inspire many young talented people to become supervisors, managers and district managers.
