Conall Mac Aongusa is a transport planner, engineer and thought-leader with over 30 years’ experience in consultancy and in business as a leader in developing, delivering and implementing innovative solutions in transport, technology, sustainable mobility and infrastructure. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for European Transport (aetransport.org) or AET Europe's leading organisation for transport policy makers, practitioners and academic researchers which organises the annual European Transport Conference (ETC) which held its 50th Conference in Milan in 2022. He leads AET's Transport and Mobility Forum (TMF) which supports and facilitates online and hybrid events across Europe hosting debates featuring high quality speakers on topical transport issues reflecting the range and depth of transport perspectives and expertise in the AET. As an independent Transport Engineer and Planner, he works with a range of international consultancies and on individual assignments for clients in Ireland, UK and overseas including Development Banks and IFIs (EIB, ADB, KfW, World Bank, IDB), most recently in Romania, Uzbekistan, Belize, Albania and Georgia. He has led a project to develop and implement a National Traffic Control Centre for the Albanian Road Authority in compliance with the EU ITS Directive. He is currently leading a project to develop and implement a distance based tolling scheme (EETS) for the Ministry of Transport in Romania in compliance with the EU EETS Directive (2019/520)He was formerly an Advisor to the Ministry of Transport and Communications in the Sultanate of Oman on the implementation of a national road asset management system and was an Expert Evaluator for the European Commission's Horizon 2020 Research Programme. His experience of leading his own technology start-up for 6 years to develop an innovative technology solution for the automotive sector led him to support and advise a range of other innovation ventures including in the areas of cybersecurity, mobile traffic data , Low Power IoT Solutions for Asset Management and Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and Next-Generation Account-Based Ticketing solutions.
