Current• Sorting out and colour-coding emergency cases for immediate assessment and treatment • Managing and stabilising critically ill patients before transferring them to the ward • Taking critical independent nursing decisions for immediate patient needs • Using the Heimlich’s Manoeuvre to remove swallowed foreign objects in kids and adults • Taking samples for crucial laboratory investigations needed for immediate clinical decisions • Requesting blood and its products for transfusing patients who are “paper white” anaemic • Protocol management of hypovolemic shock, convulsion, dehydration, snake bite, severe malaria etc• Receiving and re-evaluation of referral cases for the appropriate nursing care• Corrective nursing actions to restore anomalous vital signs like temperature, respiration, RBS, SPO2 etc• A team player in offering second opinion in clinical interventions for patient’s short and long term needs • Administering emergency and stat medications for priority (yellow-coded) patients • Teaching, training and role-modelling student nurses and new members of the ETAT team • Compiling of triaged patients’ records and writing reports on it monthly
