Having just graduated college, I don't have a lot of job experience, but what experience I do have has proven very useful. I worked as a loading dock manager in the cherry orchards (specifically for Gebbers Farms) in central Washington for most of my high school summers, something that taught me both hard work (we'd often go from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm in blistering hot weather), and management skills, as the job title implies. I worked as a groundskeeper on a major golf course (Gamble Sands), which reinforced a lot of these qualities. I worked as a receptionist and organizer at a large church/homeless shelter (UPC/Street Youth Ministries) here in Seattle, which taught me both how to deal with difficult "customers" and how to coordinate plans with very large groups of people (thousands, in any given week). I've also worked as a yard hand at Dunn Lumber in Seattle, Lake Union, providing excellent customer service to many clients throughout the day. And I served as the social chair for my college house (a group of students living together), which involved orchestrating various social events and gathering feedback from roughly 45 fellow students throughout the course of my Sophomore year.So overall, my job experience lies primarily in the areas of leadership, group coordination, communication with large groups of people, and long hours/hard work. I'm also a graduate of the University of Washington with a double-major in English and History, and as such am an excellent writer and researcher. My hope is to pursue a career that will make good use of all of these talents.
