My one-year, industry placement, was at a cyber security company based in Amsterdam. Their key product was the creation of security keys which encrypted online video content. My department was responsible for monitoring all aspects of the company's operations. The Service Operations department therefore included a 24/7 shift team to actively monitor and manage incidents through platforms such as AWS, Splunk and VictorOps.My role was to work within a team of engineers, to develop tools and debug service problems effecting the health of the service. shift engineer responsible for in-time incident management.This was an excellent learning experience which allowed me to see from the centre out, all of the services that the company ran through the service operations; testing, debugging, dev ops and incident management.
