I have dedicated the past 8 years to serving as a firefighter and paramedic, and in the last year, I have focused solely on my role as a paramedic. During my tenure, I became an active member of our peer support team, where I witnessed firsthand how unprepared most first responder departments are in addressing mental health and providing adequate support.My personal journey has also involved seeking therapy, both individually and with my wife, for several years. This experience has profoundly deepened my understanding of myself and highlighted the widespread struggles with communication, particularly concerning mental health.The creation of my company, Connect & Protect, is the culmination of my passion for helping others and a commitment to improving mental health support within the first responder community. Through this platform, I aim to share and apply the valuable lessons I've learned to benefit first responders globally.Tragically, I have seen too many colleagues succumb to suicide, feeling isolated and unsupported. My mission is to ensure that no first responder ever feels alone and that they always have someone to talk to who can make a difference in their lives. By providing a peer support network that is accessible, anonymous, and compassionate, I strive to save lives and foster a culture of mental well-being and resilience.
