The Innovation/Startup Fellowship Program is a 20-week, full-semester course known as ProtoSem. During this program, students are mentored and guided to develop core technical concepts and engineering skills, transforming them into 'Innovation Engineers'. As a team, we collaborate with students from diverse engineering/science backgrounds to design, develop, and test innovative tech-enabled solutions for real-world problems. These solutions, known as Minimum Usable Prototypes, are sponsored by various sectors such as industry, government, or social enterprises.In our cohort, we focused on creating a "Hand Launchable Copter for Surveillance" for the Indian Army. This involved extensive research on existing solutions, exploring various aerodynamic structures like synchropters, and ultimately developing a patent-pending perchable copter. This innovative device increases its endurance by perching on objects, allowing it to transmit data to the receiver effectively.Personally, I gained valuable skills beyond mechanical design, including AI, ML, drones, controllers, Python, and OpenCV, through this hands-on experience.
