I am a green collar professional currently working as a government contractor for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In this position I focus on translating climate and environmental justice documents to non-technical audiences. My passion is communicating environmental issues in an inclusive and digestible way. Obtaining a bachelors in Climate Change and Society from George Mason University has provided me the educational knowledge to hold space for communities to lead the conversations surrounding environmental issues. My accomplishments focus on program/people management through information empowerment techniques. I have had the privilege to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA in the metro Atlanta area, working on food security programs that highlight community needs and engagement. Leading this program opened the door for an opportunity with lululemon to manage floor responsibilities with a focus on sustainable programming. During that position an opportunity with the U.S. E.P.A. became available and I couldn't miss it. Since starting my contracting role two years ago, I have worked on projects ranging from tribal research identification needs to grant development for rural communities to identify environmental concerns. As I grow into my career and fine tune my preferences I expect to find my way back at the ground level, working with communities and seeing the impacts my involvement creates. Environmental concerns are deeply personal and require first-hand experience and equitable discussions. I find strength in learning from communities and developing programs in a way that leads with respect for others.
