While I was a Hardlines Associate, I was regarded as a Responsible Person, as I handled firearms, ammunition, and knives. I also managed customer accounts regarding the TWRA in selling hunting/fishing licenses as well as boat registration renewal. With handling firearm transactions, it has an inherent risk of potentially dealing with social engineering when it comes to straw purchases in which I had to be highly aware of and how to mitigate such interactions. I provided customer service and support in this role as well regarding issues with hunting/fishing licenses or boat registration renewal.

In this role, I had a higher degree of responsibility with handling returns according to various policies and handling financial services which included money transfers, bill payments, debit card deposits/withdrawals, etc. Having to process returns involves handling stressed and upset customers who act out and it also requires you to be aware of scams and fraudulent transactions. Financial Services involves handling PII (Personal Identification Information) that is various forms of IDs, foreign and domestic, as well as credit card/banking information which conforms to PCI DSS standards when transferring money to bank accounts in different locations or with account deposits/withdrawals via their debit card while also being more aware of fraudulent persons, transactions, and transfers.

In this role, I learned the basics of customer service and had to grow accustomed to a busy and stressful environment. I had to learn how to use professional verbal and written skills when handling customers to meet their needs and answer any questions they may have had. Being a cashier requires you to be responsible and hold yourself accountable for treating customers with respect and patience while also managing basic money handling.
