As a student at Indiana University studying Public Policy Analysis and Political Science, I have found it important to practice merit orientation, maintain flexibility, and utilize good listening habits. These habits have shaped me to become the team member I am.Merit Orientation: I have successfully led groups by helping guide everyone to roles within the group that play to their strengths. Regardless of my personal opinions of people I am someone who can accurately assess their abilities to the benefit of everyone.Flexibility: With everything I participate in I always make sure to practice flexibility because I never know what changes may need to be made in order to achieve success. Always having an open mind and embracing change allows you to be a better team member and have a more enjoyable experience in whatever activities you partake in.Listening Skills: Listening to people requires not just hearing what they say but understanding the why behind what they say. I practice good listening skills every day when learning from professors and learning what those around me need from me.I use all of these practices to make my community a better place and to one day join the civil service.
