I was responsible for generating new sales of yearbooks and maintaining the accounts we already had. The job was one that required multiple strengths to be successful: prospecting and meeting potential clients presenting the company and our products selling and closing the sale building relationships, maintaining those relationships managing time and an expansive territory for success, and supporting the client through production of the yearbook, keeping the client on schedule to meet crucial deadlines. After 5 years in yearbook sales I moved into photography sales. Although the territory remained the same, the contacts were different. Therefore meeting and beginning a relationship with a new client base was the first priority. School photography is a service sale first, selling the opportunity to reach the customer through the school. The second part of the sale is to the families. Because you do not have the luxury of building a relationship with the end user, the relationship you build with the administrator and the support personnel is vital to growth and survival in the school photography market. I built good, strong relationships with the client base. I was a part of strategy planning for the seasons of selling. My experience and my sense of business strategy launched me into the role of Sales Manager. As Sales Manager conscience of the companies efforts to offer world class support while maintaining a streamlined budget, I created a new structure that utilized professional part time service representatives physically located within the premium territories they serviced. I provided training and support to a team of 6 sales and support personnel. During this time I also maintained a territory of 110 schools. Show less

I was primarily responsible for training retail and library personnel on the proper use of their theft protection equipment and handling the customer when the system detected merchandise. I covered a six state territory and was in complete control of managing my time, my training schedule and my account visits. Frequent travel was involved. After being with Checkpoint of the Southwest for about 2 years, the company was purchased by the parent company, Checkpoint Systems Inc. where my role changed and territory increased. My title became Marketing Support Specialist and I became more involved in the selling of product with the sales representatives. Our emphasis changed from small individual stores and small local chains to targeting large regional and large national chains. I was no longer involved in the educational side (libraries) of the business, instead I began being involved in initial sales calls and formal presentations to corporate decision makers. I presented training packets as a part of the sale for executives to gain an understanding of our services. Later we would begin to market and sell separately the training portion of our business to include new business and ongoing training for existing businesses. I was responsible for generating the training sales and conducting the trainings. Here I was given opportunities to grow my strengths in communicating with positions of all levels and to be effective. This position was very independent and proved to be a good match for my personality, I had a great deal of responsibility in organizing, scheduling, training, and relationship development. From this position I developed strong time management and independent motivation. Show less
