I am a co-founder of Boulder Treasures, a Boulder, Colorado based social enterprise with a mission to provide adults with developmental disabilities with a sense of purpose, value and participation in our community by creating pathways to secure meaningful employment. Boulder Treasures operates a retail store, Ramble on Pearl, as a platform to offer our apprentices paid on the job training, and to demonstrate to local area employers, and the community at large, their capabilities as potential qualified and reliable employees. Ramble on Pearl which opened in August 2014 features the excess inventory of manufacturers of recreational and lifestyle clothing and accessories. While some of our product suppliers will relate to us on a wholesale basis, our Product Partners will join our mission by donating product for sale in our store. Designed as a “boutique style” outlet offering quality products at a great value, our store creates a superior retail experience thereby generating a dedicated customer following. By operating with a minimum overhead and low operating cost, Boulder Treasures will be financially self-sustaining in delivering its mission. Our ultimate goal is to graduate our clients into independent, sustainable and competitive employment in the broader employment market.
