  • Cancer Research Uk (Cruk)
    Agile Lead
Cancer Research Uk (Cruk) Apr 2020 - May 2021
    London, United Kingdom
I help leaders and teams across Cancer Research UK to adopt agile principles and ways of working and I lead and support a team of agile coaches. I advocate agile as an enabler for all teams – digital or otherwise - and I help people to see agile as one part of the puzzle of organisational change and digital transformation. I work closely with my design and delivery teammates to embed agile alongside practices like human-centred design and Lean. I work closely with our senior leaders to explore how we can transform our ways of working on an organisational scale.
  • Cancer Research Uk (Cruk)
    Digital Specialist (Research And Innovation)
Cancer Research Uk (Cruk) Jan 2019 - Dec 2019
In the second of 2 experimental secondments, I was embedded in our Research Brand and Communications team. I was there to lead the team in transforming their ways of working. I was their delivery manager, supporting them to build better communication and collaboration practices. I guided them to develop a shared understanding of their strategy, problems and objectives. I led them in reframing their delivery goals as assumptions to test. I helped them to develop and maintain ways of understanding of their scientific audience and becoming more responsive to their needs. To ensure that the change would be sustainable, I worked with senior stakeholders to make the case for investment in roles and developing skills that would empower them to achieve their goals. To understand if the change would be scalable, I also worked closely with our service design team to translate what we learned into the beginnings of a digital transformation service.
  • Cancer Research Uk (Cruk)
    Digital Specialist (Fundraising And Marketing)
Cancer Research Uk (Cruk) Jan 2018 - Dec 2018
    London, United Kingdom
This was my first experimental secondment to explore if and how we could accelerate digital transformation at CRUK. This was our first attempt as an organisation at embedding digital roles in business teams. I joined CRUK’s fundraising directorate and I coached a newly formed team made up of digital and fundraising roles in user-centred research and design, Lean experimentation and agile ways of working. It was also the first time we applied a service-led approach as an organisation and we uncovered a fundamental disconnect between teams who were responsible for different parts of the same service. Throughout this secondment, I maintained a strong link with my home team, so that we could build on what I and my cross-functional delivery team were learning about affecting organisational change.
  • Cancer Research Uk
    Digital Proposition Manager
Cancer Research Uk May 2017 - Dec 2017
This was the first role at CRUK that was dedicated to digital transformation. The objective was twofold: to deliver value and affect change. In it, I partnered with colleagues from many different parts of the organisation to support them to deliver a digital outcome. I was responsible for understanding the strategy, issues and goals of the business team and used this understanding to reframe what usually started as a desired output into measurable outcomes. I formed cross-functional teams made up of digital specialists and subject matter experts around the problem to solve. I built trust, shared understanding and psychological safety to empower us to learn our way forwards. I led people through skillset, behavioural, mindset and organisational change to enable them to maintain and iterate their work post initial delivery.
  • Cancer Research Uk
    Digital Producer
Cancer Research Uk Jul 2016 - May 2017

In this role, I was a member of multiple short-term and cross-functional teams. I ran, analysed and reported on data from experiments to inform next steps and I supported team members to develop in digital practice areas like usability testing, user research, agile project management, online content creation and content maintenance. It was in this role that my enthusiasm for digital transformation was born.
