• Providing connection/joint designs and calculations to both the Eurocodes (EC3), and British Standards (BS 5950).• Discussing design requirements and specifications with clients, and providing alternative solutions should a compromise be required. • Briefing in-house CAD technicians/draftsmen, checking and approving final design models.• Management and approval of subcontracted designs, providing assistance to consultancies where required (primarily in regards to manufacture).• Production of Excel Spreadsheets and Macros to automate many of the repetitive processes involved in the design of connections and joints.• Taking part in regular value engineering meetings to discuss opportunities to improve the design and manufacture processes.• One of my key responsibilities since joining has been to innovate new methods of designing connections, with the specific desire to reduce fabrication time and therefore cut costs. A number of my ideas have already been implemented and are now used as standard throughout the company. • I have spent time in various departments throughout the company, including Project Management, the Drawing Office, Estimating and Manufacturing.
