I am a Kanaka Maoli junior at Yale University, double majoring in Ethnicity, Race, and Migration and English with a non-fiction concentration. My indigeneity is the impetus for my academic work in the humanities, as well as my journalistic work as the current Editor-In-Chief of The Yale Herald, and previous staff member of The New Journal and the Yale Daily News. Last summer, I was the awardee of the Society of Professional Journalism internship for Hawai‘i News Now. During this 10-week internship, I reported and wrote online articles and broadcast scripts daily for my stateʻs largest multimedia organization. The majority of my coverage focused on government, housing and Native Hawaiian issues. My current academic interests are investigative journalism and Native and Indigenous studies.
