Working for the Hurricanes was an exciting and interesting experience, and as a Senior Administrative Assistant, I was granted many opportunities. I was able to interview and select quality candidates for concessions positions, I examined working conditions during events, and assisted with managing staffing during sold out shows.

As a FEMA Corps member, I assisted with processing critical projects and applications. The FEMA Corps year was primarily structured as three deployments with the ability to deploy elsewhere as needed. My team and I were deployed to Puerto Rico, Texas, South Carolina, and Florida. When I was first deployed, I created excel databases to organize and facilitate easier access to PREPA invoices. During the second deployment, I was a liaison between Project Managers and the Coordination Resource Center. As liaison, I would ensure that state level applications met organization and information standards. If the C.R.C. needed more information, I would contact the Project Managers. In my free time I would write up the scope/ddd/cost portions of state level applications. The scope/ddd/cost sections are the highlights of the application, my work allowed higher ups to quickly find all relevant information. During my last deployment (September-November) I went door to door signing up disaster survivors for FEMA assistance programs. That experience allowed me to see first hand the strength that individuals have and the need to constantly consider other's situations.
