Problems are a given, I strive to be part of the solution.While problems and solutions eternally define society, a problem will not manifest until an objective is stated; a goal is established. And a goal can be anything, learning to speak without lisping, becoming a state champion, graduating college with an engineering degree, becoming a practicing structural engineer. The establishment of goals has come to define my achievements and strengths. For the past nine years I have trained and competed as a long-distance runner. At the beginning of every season, I wrote out my goals and taped it to my locker. These daily reminders allowed me to stay committed to my passions. It was only through this commitment I was able to achieve All-Conference honors, become a two-time representative of the United States of America Junior Team, and obtain two engineering degrees in five years.The practical implementation of solutions is what I love about engineering. There is a defined goal and a constructive impact. Seeing exactly how the problems I solve benefits others is career sustaining work. The world exists, no depends, on when problems are identified and how effectively they are resolved. Being a part of the solution is where I find meaning, motivation, and purpose.
