Many years ago on my eleventh birthday, my grandfather, a veteran and shrewd businessman, decided that he would teach me how to balance my budget and track my expenses as his gift to me. In his words, it was "an investment into my future". At the time, I thought it was just about the worst gift I had ever received, up there with my children's dictionary and bottle of mouthwash. I had no idea at how valuable those same lessons would become, because they planted the seeds of greatness within me.Years later, I can now recognize the merit of those teachings, and they have shaped my future. I have earned my Masters in Accounting following those principle instilled into me, and now I am currently employed as a Staff Accountant at Highmark Residental, a large property management firm in Dallas, TX. In my time there, I have become increasingly familiar with accounting management systems such as Yardi Voyager, and refined my skills as an accountant as much as possible.
