Throughout my high school career, I was on my local fire department, starting at age 14. Learning the basics of both fire and EMS. Training with senior members to the ability allowed, as well as learning while on the scene of an incident. I learned a lot while I was a cadet. I filled all of my elective slots with automotive technology and manufacturing. In manufacturing, I welded, used oxy-acetylene torches, milling machines, bandsaws, drill presses. I also worked a lot with sheet metal, making various things, such as a 2-dimensional Maltese cross, and a 3-Dimensional turtle on a rock scene that I used a welder to piece together. I learned how to tap and dye things so that they could be bolted together, how to mill projects to finish them. I also learned how to cast aluminum. I also studied Automotive Technology while I attended high school. I learned as much about cars as I could, from how to change oils to how different types of transmissions work. I applied the skills I learned between the two classes to remove and instal a new engine in the car I had at the time. Which is currently still running well, better than the previous engine, and is still on the road today. I believe that the skilled I have learned and hope to learn through pursuing a career related to the field that I studied in school.
