During my PhD, I am working to develop techniques for the characterization, modeling, and optimization of wearable soft robots in the presence of complex human body interactions. In particular, I work with a device that uses pneumatic, woven textile soft actuators to support the shoulder joint for medical or industrial applications. My particular efforts focus on understanding the mechanics of these woven textiles and how to optimize the device performance in light of the textile's behavio.

I developed a novel Stewart platform-based robotic hand for dexterous, 6-DOF within-hand manipulation. I also previously worked on a reconfigurable truss system for rapid assembly of lightweight, high-rigidity structures that could be assembled by a robotic manipulator to form arbitrary 3D geometries using a tessellating octahedral geometry.

The Toyota Research Institute aims to conduct fundamental robotics and AI research to support a broad range of applications including self driving cars, materials science, and robotics. Under the direction of MIT Professor Russ Tedrake, I worked during this internship at TRI to explore new tactile sensing technologies for robotic manipulation, drawing heavily from the soft robotics research community.

Ekso Bionics produces both medical and industrial exoskeletons, seeking to retrain paralysis and stroke victims to walk and to reduce workplace injuries in industrial settings. During this summer internship, I was tasked with developing an original cycle-testing apparatus for the company's industrial zeroG Arm system to determine lifespan estimates for its components.

I developed a computer model of a robotic bird for motion planning and simulation, modeling anatomical dimensions and physical properties from live birds.

In Professor Hata's lab at Brigham and Women's Hospital, I designed and developed a proof-of-concept medical device prototype to measure biopsy needle insertion depth using an optical sensor during robotic, MRI-guided surgeries. We tested our device in a preclinical study in the hospital's Advanced Multimodality Image Guided Operating Room (AMIGO).

Under the mentorship of Tufts Biomedical Engineering Professor Xu, I assisted with the design and development of a prototype for a three-dimensional perfusion bioreactor to keep ex vivo liver tissue alive for drug delivery screening of lipidoid-based cancer therapies.
