Current
Project Management Director
CurrentAs Project Management Director (PMD) for CEDC, I led the oversight and strategic advancement of 7 multidisciplinary projects, each designed to deliver sustainable solutions for developing communities. A major focus of my role was helping projects successfully navigate the Project Lifecycle framework, ensuring that teams met key deliverables to move through Phase Gates and progress to the next stage of their development.By equipping project teams with the necessary knowledge and resources, I ensured they could meet key milestones and efficiently progress through each phase of the Project Lifecycle. I played a pivotal role in identifying and resolving areas of strain, enabling projects to stay on track and advance effectively. Additionally, I developed and led Project Manager trainings and Assistant PMD trainings that empowered students to manage their teams, while fostering a collaborative environment that prioritzied innovation, professional growth, and community impact. Key Responsibilities:- Oversaw Project Management for 7 active projects- Reincorporated and tracked the Project Lifecycle framework, facilitating project transitions through phase gates- Equipped teams with the tools and knowledge to meet deliverables- Developed and led professional training workshops- Identified and implemented solutions to keep projects on track- Fostered a collaborative, growth-focused environment for student leaders
Assistant Project Management Director
I served two semesters as an Assistant Project Management Director for CEDC. Each semester I oversaw 3 projects.I served Origami Emergency Shelter for two semesters. Their mission is to develop an emergency shelter that utilizes origami principles to improve upon issues of existing shelters. I oversaw Colombia Ram Pump for two semesters, to aid them in their goal of delivering water to rural farmers in Colombia without the use of electricity. I worked with Water from Air for one semester. Their mission is to utilize hygroscopic materials to capture water from humidity in the air to provide water to Colombian mining communities with no source of clean drinking water. Lastly, I aided Community Health Surveillance for one semester. Their goal is to implement an online data collection system in the Central Plateau of Haiti to better understand the state of the hypertension treatment program in Cange, Haiti. In this role, I worked directly with project managers to ensure they understood expectations, delivered project progress, and most importantly developed as leaders. I helped PMs develop their semester schedules, progress through their project life cycle, prepare for presentations, and ensured they were informed by communicating up and down the chain of command. In my second APMD semester, I oversaw all of CEDC's "Phase 2" projects, being those in the prototyping and testing phase. I worked closely with HERDS, our research and design studio, to ensure there was communication of needs and expectations between groups and the interns assisting them at HERDS.
Project Manager
I worked as the Project Manager for the Origami Emergency Shelter Research Team with CEDC at Clemson. This project is intended to create an emergency shelter that is cost-effective, quickly and easily deployable, safe, and sustainable for a significant amount of time, to help families that are displaced from their homes after the event of a disaster. My responsibilities included scheduling/delegation of tasks; ensuring sound group communication between myself, my team, and CEDC directors; leading a group effort to publish our findings; keeping up with inventory and making sure we have the proper tools, supplies, and safety equipment to conduct effective and accurate testing on our prototypes; and pushing our team to work as a unit to ensure we have a successful semester that yields promising results. I plan to continue working with CEDC for the remainder of my time at Clemson
Project Member
At CEDC I served as a project member on the origami emergency shelter team. Our group aims to use origami folding principles to create a sustainable, cost-effective, and compact emergency shelter for deployment in developing countries, such as Haiti, after a natural disaster. I have assisted in the development of testing procedures, construction of prototypes, and our group reports on our progress on a regular basis. Individually, I developed an Excel spreadsheet that will automatically do all the calculations we need to create proportionally consistent prototypes of various size.
Practical Community Resilience Intern - Savannah River Watershed (Srw)
As an intern on the SRW project, my goal was to analyze critical infrastructure, identify connectedness and dependencies between infrastructure, and paint a picture to show how flooding may impact communities in the SRW region of South Carolina. We utilize the Infrastructure Resiliency Planning Framework (IRPF) to crosswalk critical infrastructure with the National Critical Functions (NCF) list to determine which infrastructure would be most impacted after a flood. We then downloaded open soruce data, validated their location, elevation, and point of failure, and utilized ArcGIS and flood data to identify flooding risk for each data point. This internship provides me with the opportunity to work on a national pilot program. Our work is unique and aims to rewrite the framework for infrastructure resiliency planning.
Kitchen Staff
I currently worked part time at Charleston Sports Pub in Clemson to help with my expenses during school. I worked 3-4 shifts a week where I was tasked with quickly and efficiently making food for customers. The kitchen itself is fairly small so it helped me develop my organization skills while continuing to develop my teamwork, communication, and performing under pressure skills. Additionally, it has allowed me to improve my time management skills as I was working alongside a heavy course-load for school.
Landscaper - Installation
Summer job in my home town. I generally worked on installation, although I had shifts doing nearly every job they offer. During installation we would spend around 10 hours outside each day on site. My tasks involved installing pipes, lighting and other basic electrical work, and installing rock structures and beds in yards. It is very physically and mentally demanding work which allowed me to develop my perseverance and integrity while teaching me how to how to better manage my time and follow design plans.
Host/Expo/Carryout/Kitchen
At Brixx, I was trusted with every position that I could hold for my age. At 16, I rotated between host, carryout, and expo and when I turned 17, I moved into the kitchen. I was trusted with carryout due to my ability to efficiently communicate with customers and effectively balance answering the phone, entering orders into the system, communicating and organizing with expo, and checking out customers with the correct food when they come to pay/pick up. My primary position in the front of house, particularly on busy nights, was expo. This position required me to manage every order, ensure the kitchen was on track and orderly, check to ensure each order comes out correctly and is both cooked well and presentable, as well as constantly communicating with servers, carryout, managers, and the kitchen about status and updates to orders. When I moved to the kitchen I worked pizza, salad, and sauté lines, dishwasher, and as a prep chef during the summer when I went full time. Each job required me to use different skills to be successful, but the kitchen primarily required me to stay mentally focused and prepare to constantly work for hours on end depending on how busy the restaurant was. Working at Brixx taught me how to work in a team in a high paced environment, how to problem solve under pressure, and the importance of collaboration and clear communication.
