At BAYI I work to plan and implement programs designed to help increase economic mobility and success for disadvantaged populations and to work against climate change; identify opportunities for funding; oversee grant writing; coordinate with the CEO on project implementation; and reach out to new strategic partners to further develop our projects.

In this role I worked with a colleague to compile, design, and publish Rhino Ark's 2024 Impact Report, covering their accomplishments in conserving Kenya's black rhinoceros, mountain bongo, forest elephant, and other endangered species, as well as successes in community outreach, fundraising through their Rhino Charge 2024 event, and other achievements.

I helped prepare Rhode Island’s federally-mandated Carbon Reduction Plan to enable access to USD 60 million in federal funding by working with an international team to gather data, conduct research and analysis, communicate with stakeholders, and produce a government-quality final report.

As a Teaching Assistant, I led small-group discussion sections of undergraduates for four different courses (The Ancient World, Europe from 1800 to the Present, Europe to 1800, and Crime and Society in American History), graded written assignments, and assisted undergraduates when they had questions or concerns about course materials, expectations, assignments, and navigating college-level academic work. I also coordinated with professors and fellow graduate students to ensure a smooth flow for the overall course.

While completing my Master's of History from Syracuse University, I conducted research on the largely-unresearched Montana Mineral Lands Convention of 1889. This involved accessing the Montana State Historical Society Archives in Helena, Montana, and the National Archives in Washington, D.C., for legislative and other political documents, books, diaries, reports, and other relevant material. My findings will eventually be used to produce at least one publishable article on this topic and its impacts on both state and national politics and legislation.

As part of a research internship, I archivally processed an incoming collection of the papers of University of Nebraska-Lincoln historian James Sellers. This involved refoldering and organizing the contents of the collections and preparing both a finding aid and associated electronic archival description.

In preparation for writing my undergraduate Honor's thesis, I conducted independent research under the direction of University of Nebraska-Lincoln History Professor James Garza on the largely-unresearched topic of 1920s private investigators in Los Angeles, California. This involved accessing digitized newspaper articles from a variety of online archives, as well as other primary and secondary sources, such as books written by or about the detectives in question.

In this role, I entered data resulting from annual surveys of high school students in Nebraska on behalf of researchers with the Bureau of Sociological Research (BOSR). I also assisted with preparations for the 2017 round of this and associated surveys. Other duties included transcribing and anonymizing telephone surveys conducted by Gallup, Inc., and cooperating with BOSR researchers to provide needed assistance with other projects.

I assisted University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of History Professor Katrina Jagodinsky with a research project indexing articles in the Western Legal History scholarly journal. I accessed both physical and digital versions of the journals, identified keywords for each article, and used the Zotero citation organization software to compile a database for later research use by Dr. Jagodinsky and others.

In this job, I processed soil samples for soybean cyst nematode (SCN), helped analyze these samples, and assisted with both field- and greenhouse-based experiments working on controlling SCN and other plant pathogens. I also assisted with data entry and various other office duties.
