My career in metrology has stemmed from my undergraduate experience, and my love of working with scientific instrumentation. My undergraduate career at UW-Eau Claire gave me the opportunity to work extensively in the laboratory through coursework, participating in undergraduate research, and working an internship. I had the opportunity to train on a variety of instrumentation such as Polarization Modulation Infrared Reflection Adsorption Spectroscopy (PM-IRRAS), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and many more.I was introduced to the plastics industry through a course in which I learned about various polymer processing techniques. This knowledge was the groundwork that set me up for my internship with Phillips Medisize. Here I developed a strong sense of what it takes to be an engineer in not only the plastics industry, but also the medical device manufacturing industry.With a passion to work in medical devices, I pursued my career at Exact Sciences. Metrology has allowed me to grow my career within the realm of instrumentation calibration and maintenance in addition to developing my skills in leading a service team and growing my abilities as a people leader.
