Hey! I'm Connor, a computer scientist and software developer recently graduated from Stanford University. My career thus far has mirrored my passion - hacking! Not the kind of hacking involving the exploitation of software gaps (which is admittedly still fun) but rather the kind of hacking you do at a hackathon or a game jam - the ability to take an idea from design to execution, across the whole spectrum from hardware to software. From the bare-metal components of a NASA satellite, all the way up to the overarching flight software, I find that building machines and programming computers to perform complex tasks at speeds and complexities far outpacing our own is magical to me.I've worked in various fields to apply my fascination with algorithms and computer science everywhere I've gone. I'm currently looking for another role to try out my skills and build new ones!

Founding Software EngineerInternode Apr 2024 - Jul 2024● Created a startup with two previous coworkers of which I was in charge of the algorithm● Used LLMs to ingest massive PDF documents into a clear and concise knowledge graph● Built a system to allow the LLM to use the knowledge graph to answer questions about the PDF content● Explored retrieval augmented generation, self-reflection, and other advanced LLM techniques

Personal Goal PursuitCareer Break Aug 2023 - Mar 2024I spent several months at a zen center deconstructing phenomena into their component sensations. The goal of this time was to explore my purpose in life, the way my mind constructs and distorts my experience, and how to deal with grief.

ResearcherStanford University Oct 2021 - Jul 2023Stanford, Ca, Us● Developed VR simulation with eye tracker in Unity Engine to detect gaze direction and render only in peripheral vision● Wrote custom networking pipeline to cut down the latency of the system as much as possible given hardware constraints● Learned from existing research and developed novel tasks to test visual learning using an extrafoveal locus of attention● Gathered data and constructed a system to visualize the data and detect "cheating" saccades -
ResearcherStanford University Feb 2021 - Aug 2021Stanford, Ca, Us● Helped design an AI model that allows a robot to mimic periodic tasks demonstrated by a human● Worked with the entire technology stack, from the AI model to the motion of the robot arm● Used convolutional neural networks to detect the location of the robot arm and its held tool, as well as goal objects● Our paper was eventually accepted at ICRA 2022 and published: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/9812402 -
Development Tools ProgrammerRoblox Jun 2019 - Sep 2020San Mateo, California, Us● Spent two summers working at Roblox● Did frontend and backend work on Roblox Studio, a game development platform used by millions worldwide● Worked with design and functionality teams to identify and implement improvements to the Studio for user experience● Identified problematic or dysfunctional parts of the codebase and removed the errors● Greatly improved my understanding of vast, complex software systems, and my ability to effectively learn new codebases -
Course Developer / Course TaStanford University Jan 2019 - Mar 2020Stanford, Ca, Us● Wrote and taught a design-focused VR development curriculum for 4 quarters. Created a student-initiated course, CS11si, taught lessons and labs in the Unity game engine for the Oculus Go headset.● Taught a section of 11 students taking CS106A at Stanford, involving grading their assignments, meeting with them once a week to discuss their work and provide feedback, taking shifts during office hours, and teaching a weekly section to my students.● Developed a proof of concept virtual classroom environment as an educational aid, applied through Stanford StartX to get startup funding. The project ended up failing but it was still a useful learning experience. -
Full Stack EngineerNasa Ames Research Center May 2018 - Sep 2018Moffett Field, California, Us● Reached out to Stanford professors to work on a satellite, joined a team under the RExLab working with NASA● Designed and wrote satellite flight code over the course of the project, adapted to multiple changes in flight parametersdue to NASA’s ever-changing requirements and circumstances● Worked closely with the EE team to work out issues with the flight hardware, and wrote extensive firmware libraries● Integrated firmware and flight software into a fully embedded system● KickSat-2 launched on November 17, 2018, more info can be found here: https://kicksat.github.io/● Due to my contributions, I'm an author on my colleague Max Holliday's research paper on the project, found here: https://rexlab.stanford.edu/papers/PyCubed-SmallSat.pdf -
Physics Department Software Development InternAnchorage Radiation Therapy Jun 2016 - Aug 2016● Reached out and created an internship opportunity at a local hospital● Observed and analyzed the patient treatment process for Radiation Therapy● Identified potential improvements to the workflow, and wrote software to automate such improvements● Completed a research project using Java to 3D model bolus structures and electron beam apertures to be used in tandem with 3D printing technology, improving the accuracy of part of the treatment process● Reached out to the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists to present a talk at their 2016 meeting (links below)
