Geotechnical Engineer
Current• Detour Lake Mine Cell 2 (Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd.; 2018-Present): o Provided quality assurance monitoring for our client during the construction of a tailings storage facility to ensure the contractor(s) were building to the design and specifications. Took on lead roles as a field supervisor, providing mentoring/training to new staff and review of project reporting. Safeguarded the health and safety of peers/contractors and withheld environmental regulations. o Completed 2D and 3D static and pseudo-static slope stability analyses for critical cross-sections of the facility. Summarized and presented the results to our internal reviewers. o Developed a tailings deposition plan for the first year of operations based on design criteria provided by the client. Refined the plan based on field observations and updated constraints. o Performed soil and bedrock logging, field testing and instrument installations for site investigation programs to help advance the site geological model. Supervised drilling sub-contractors to ensure work was completed safely and on schedule. Lead site investigation reporting which included digitized borehole log review, in situ and laboratory test data processing, summarizing results, and reporting findings.• Diavik A21 Dike (Rio Tinto/DDMI; 2017): o Provided quality assurance support during construction of an in-lake perimeter dike. Verified and processed submittal data from the contractor to ensure the technical specifications were met and approval packages were complete prior to acceptance. Reviewed project documentation such as site instructions, non-conformance reports, etc. o Collected and analyzed instrumentation (piezometers, inclinometers, extensometers, etc.) data to monitor the dike response during dewatering of the internal lake upon completion of the cut-off wall. Summarized and presented daily results to the EOR and resident engineers to identify areas of interest for semi-daily dike inspections.
