Maintain registries of relevant clinical information for patients with Gaucher disease, Pompe disease, and acute hepatic porphyrias. Relay data from encounter notes as well as imaging and lab reports of enrolled participants and identify eligible participants receiving care at our center. Assist with administrative tasks such as formatting manuscripts and presentations. Communicate with clinical team and data monitors to ensure data accuracy.

Review thousands of carrier screening reports on a case by case basis to ensure appropriate evaluation, documentation, and continuity of care in notifying ordering providers about routine and critical testing results. Perform daily data query of resulted carrier screening reports to identify cases requiring additional counseling/follow up, such as patients with manifesting carrier risk. Contact patients with available expanded carrier screening results to schedule post-test telephone counseling. Navigate multiple databases and interfaces to coordinate scheduling and maintain clear documentation.

Casey Eye Institute

Work as part of interdisciplinary team of doctors, genetic counselors, technicians, and research staff to facilitate patient participation in clinical trials of gene therapy for inherited retinal degeneration. Responsible for managing six clinical trials by performing visual acuity testing, scheduling appointments, collecting and managing data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and serving as primary point of contact and support for patients participating in clinical trials.

Barr-Gillespie Lab

Member of research team using proteomic and genetic techniques to characterize the molecular basis of hearing by studying the sensory cells of the inner ear. Optimize and carry out large scale protein purification of key hair-bundle proteins for mass spectrometry, monoclonal antibody development, and biochemical assays. Maintain various mammalian cell culture lines and assist with lab maintenance.

Tutoring And Academic Engagement Center

Tutor 15 students in all four introductory biology classes covering topics such as cell biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, and biochemistry. Lead individual and group sessions.

Streisfeld Lab

Conduct independent research in an evolutionary genetics lab studying the genetic basis of adaptive traits in plants. Carry out large-scale gene silencing experiments and novel genotyping assays to explore the functional role of a candidate gene in reproductive isolation and speciation. Wrote and successfully defended an honors thesis based on findings.
