For a second consecutive summer, performed research under the supervision of Dr. Ray Birge at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Cancer Center. Working on a project investigating the role of the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway in tumor cell immune evasion, I was able to practice techniques such as Aseptic technique/Cell Culture, transient and stable transfection, SDS-PAGE and Western Blot in addition to gaining experience with experimental design.

Preformed research in the lab of Dr. Mark Nelson in the Department of Pharmacology, investigating pharmacological interventions for the underlying cause of Bladder Dysfunction (i.e. overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, urinary retention) as it relates to nerve signaling between the bladder and the brain. Practiced techniques such as isometric contractility and ex vivo preparation of the mouse bladder.

Performed research in the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Cancer Center under the supervision of Dr. Raymond Birge. Developed an understanding of Cancer Immunology and Biochemistry, as well as techniques such as Aseptic technique/Cell Culture, transient and stable transfection, SDS-PAGE and Western Blot.
