Hi, I'm CJ! As a child, I had a deep interest in meteorology, so I tried pursue a degree in it at Florida State University. Two semesters in, though, my part-time job at Pizza Hut inspired a new motivation in me after I promoted to a Shift Leader in June of 2019. More than just delegating as a manager, getting involved in operations and creating a culture of consistentcy and excellency fueled my motivation to aim higher. Since then, I have shifted majors towards a BS in Business Management at FSU as a reflection of my interest gained working at Pizza Hut.By May of 2020, I promoted to the role of an Assistant Manager and expanded my scope to oversee all aspects of the restaurant. Cost controls, operating procedures, inventory and team management, and even an extention of human resources! Not only did I assume responsibility, I embraced the position and found my true passion for management in this role. The relationships I built with my teams helped to improve efficiency and communication even after I had transferred to different stores. Even outside my store, the network of support built to patch holes and claim small victories across multiple locations within the district (for resources like labor and capital) was a boon for bolstering success across a wider area. I chose to move stores several times, some to accomodate my living circumstances and some to meet the demands of the business. Through the adaptation across multiple environments, I was able to receive valuable training for both store-level skills and beyond. Being able to collaborate with other store managers at meetings while having experience working at their locations gives me a unique edge in understanding how other's management cultures shape teams versus my own, as well as the effects of my input into new environments. The relationships and communication methods different teams employ have massive implications for how cooperative employees will be interacting with each other and achieving work goals. Thus, it's why I've made this particular facet of management a pillar to my success and the success of the teams I work with.I have left Pizza Hut since then and am currently working to broaden my experience as a Host Staff Shift Leader at Tallahassee's Challenger Learning Center! As a local resident, it humbles me to be working in the halls of the center I toured through years ago as a kid on field trips! I aspire to find an upper-level management role following my graduation and exploring more opportunities to expand my horizons!
