Trigger.io is the easiest way for HTML developers to make native mobile apps.At Trigger we are a small team, so I have some level of input in almost all aspects of the development of our tools and services. This ranges from managing our servers (using fabric to deploy to EC2, RDS, S3 and SQS services from AWS), through implementing our native apps (Java for Android, Objective-C for iOS), our build scripts and website (Python and Django), to working on the code and design of our user facing tools (mainly Javascript using Backbone.js, with HTML5 and CSS).While I have at times worked on most of the code we have at Trigger, my main focus is the development of our mobile apps. This can be split into several sections:* Writing the core code for our applications: a webview which allows communication between Javascript and native code and methods to load specific modules configured by the user and included at build time.* Writing modules for both Android and iOS that work with the core code to provide access to native functionality (such as geolocation services or the devices camera).* Designing the layout for modules and the files required to create a module, and implementing the build scripts to apply a module to a core Android or iOS project.* Designing and implementing the tools used both internally at Trigger and by customers to implement modules. Involving generating and updating Xcode and Eclipse projects which can be used to develop modules and export compiled code. This takes the form of both Python build scripts and a Javascript GUI in our user toolkit.At Trigger we also have quarterly hack weeks during which we can work on a related project, some of the things I have worked on include:* A Java implementation of Apple's codesign tool, which allows iOS applications to be signed on a Windows or Linux machine.* A cache invalidation service which allows changes on our website to be pushed out to clients as they happen, implemented using a node.js server.

Extreme Blue is IBM's premier internship program, it involves spending 12 weeks working in a team of 4 interns (3 technical, 1 business) to take an open ended idea and develop the technology and a business plan to take it forward.As part of our challenge my team developed a prototype solution in the form of a Facebook application with a PHP and MongoDB backend. Our technology choices were mainly based on what would allow us to quickly put together a working prototype to demonstrate our ideas.During the program we presented weekly status updates as a team, culminating in pitching our project to IBM's EMEA Expo in Dublin, Ireland.
