In the past I have worked in a donut shop, within a merchandising position, and on my high school basketball team. Whether it be navigating employees and myself around small problems on busy work days in the donut shop, guiding my co-workers to more efficient organization techniques to stock the shelves of grocery stores, or motivating my team each and every game to help us get closer to a state championship, I have learned to embrace the skills ingrained into the person I am and who I am continuing to become. In high school I began on the freshmen basketball team and played each game with a chip on my shoulder thinking that I at least deserved a chance to show the JV coach the talent that I had. I dedicated myself to get better and with hard work and persevering through my own physical and mental challenges, I worked my way into a starting spot on the varsity team as a junior. I was introduced to the fact that nothing is handed to you, everything must be worked for, and if you personally believe that you can achieve the end goal you have in mind, then you will reach your goals and turn them into what you might have thought were impossibilities. I believe that anything is possible with hard work, repetition, and persevering through your failures. My hard work has driven who I am and strengthened all of the skills I have developed within me so far, such as communication, creativity, quick learning and adaptability, and strategic planning. I continue to pushes myself to develop whatever skill I need to get the task at hand complete and produce a product that exceeds expectations.Looking back at my experiences so far, I can say that the most important thing I have learned is to take a step back sometimes and look at the work you have put in to get where you are. I have learned to enjoy the journey and the moment you are in, because it disappear just as fast as it comes. I have learned to cherish the moments and people around me and not take anything for granted, I love to dream big and watch my dreams unravel around me as I balance my hard work with my gratitude for the oppurtunities I am given.I am passionate about positive change and how self care translates into the lives of others. I am committed to taking advantage of the opportunities in front of me and recognize that confidence is decision making. I have a vision of my future and will do what it takes to make that a positive future for myself and the people around me.
